Mount Falcon Country House Hotel

Low water and bright sunshine are never a good combination for spring salmon fishing but despite this a number of anglers did enjoy success.

The fisheries included on our 3 Rivers Package all held quantities of spring salmon, Giles Wilson (England) hooked and unfortunately lost a good fish when fishing Carramore (this lake has been fishing extremely well for spring fish – given good wave and cloud conditions). Despite being on it’s ‘bones’ some fish found their way into the upper reaches of the Owenduff, Chris Ryan (Sports Fish) succeeded in hooking one on the fly but it succeeded in throwing the hook.

While the Erriff was also in need of water, a few fish were pushing into the lower beats, anglers staying at Mount Falcon who had success included 79 year old John Price (pictured below), and Jamie Ryan shown playing his fish (estimated at 12lb – the fish was returned) on beat 8 above the falls.

With the change in the weather we would expect to see the Mount Falcon water starting to fish for grilse and late run springers. Given water the fish holding in the tidal reaches of the spate rivers will make their way upstream, so good sport is anticipated.
