Screebe House

With no bookings for fishing in February or March, this left the Screebe staff to the first few casts of the Season. Trevor Down the resident chef had his first long awaited cast of the season in the Salmon pool on opening day 1st February. He caught 2 well mended female kelts, which is always good to see but returned quickly!!

The rest of the fishing effort was turned to the tidal pools which always produce excellent trout fishing early season each year.

Up to the end of March there were 55 brown trout recorded and all released! Fish of exception were Trevor had 2 in 1 hour at 4lb and 5lb of March, and 1 about 6lbs released, also with another 3 of 3lbs during March. These big stubs are feeding heavily early season to regain weight and with catch and release hopefully we will have a 10lber soon.

On 1st of April the Screebe Proprietor arrived for his Easter fishing week and in that week he recorded 42 brown trout with the biggest 60cm. He also caught and released 16 sea trout to 40cm.

On the 22nd April Aaron Burkart & Kathi Wustenhagan arrived for 6 days fishing, they caught 33 brown trout and 4 sea trout leaving the biggest to the last day, a lovely brown trout of 5lb 4oz.

With very low water levels at present (1st May) there is still no sign of the first salmon, although last year the first salmon was caught on 5th May...we will have to wait and see!!
