Fishery Report » Ballyvolane House & Blackwater Salmon Fishery
[ April 2010 ]

Ballyvolane House beats were quiet during the month of April with few anglers out. There were a couple of big floods at the end of March and at the end of the first week in April. The river was ideal for fly fishing once the flood subsided and the long dry mild weather we enjoyed in April made conditions perfect. The Davis party from Wales grassed a fresh springer of 7lb using an Ally's Shrimp fly at Kilbarry on 12 April and lost a couple of others.
Ballyvolane House Fishing School is now taking bookings throughout the season. 2-day and 1-day courses available presided over by Norman Gillet who is both a qualified instructor holding the Salmon and Trout Association National Instructors Certificate (STANIC) and a member of the Game Angling Instructors' Association (GAIA).
