Fishery Report » Mount Falcon Country House Hotel
[ July 2010 ]

July saw a tremendous run of salmon on the Moy. Our total catch for the month was 414 fish. While the majority of fish were grilse in the 3-7lb class a few larger salmon up to 12lb were caught.
Anglers that had success in the early part of the month included Garry Perks who caught 6 on the fly (5 released), Hans Stolstein & Johakim Dhur from Germany who had 12 salmon, the Lambert party had 15 fish and David succeeded in catching his first on fly. Connor Fallon and son had their first ever salmon catching 3, the ladies were not to be outdone with Maureen Justice and Kathy Goode both taking fish from Connor’s Gap.
During the last week of the month 139 salmon were taken. The Perks/Millar party had 68 for their week (42 released), 22 of which were taken on the fly. In total 62 fish were fly caught, those enjoying success included Garry Perks , John Millar, Mike Hornsby, Nigel Ingram (15 yrs old), Martin Davison, Stuart Price and Jim Wilson. The largest fish of the week estimated at 10lb+ was taken on fly from The Wall Pool and released.
All pools on the 2 mile stretch contain a stock of resident fish. With rain promised mid week we would expect to see some more fresh fish arriving. Fresh water would also encourage more of the residents to come on the take. For more information contact Stuart Price Fishery Manager.
