[ June 2012 ]
With the rain came the fish, a mixture of late run springers and grilse. The June total from the Mount Falcon stretch of the Moy was 28.This was for a relatively low angling effort in the first two weeks. Week 1 saw one fish caught, week 2 we had 5 fish, week 3 seven, and in the last week 15 fish Amongst those who caught fish were the Philippe Kerbrat group from France, who had 3 fresh salmon from the Wall Pool and Cunninghams. The Goode party had great sport on Cunninghams in the last week of June. Kathy Goode is pictured above with their catch (best fish 10lb).
Those on our 3 Rivers package also enjoyed success, with good fish taken on both the Erriff , Owenduff and The Ridge Pool. On the 1st June the Mitchell party (USA) had a sea-liced 5lb fish from Rock House on the Owenduff, this was followed by 2 salmon the following day from the Ridge Pool.
In total guest had 5 salmon off the Erriff ( 4lb – 9lb). The rainfall meant that the Owenduff had a number of rises in water level over the month, and those lucky enough to be there when the water was falling had some spectacular sport with both salmon and sea-trout (all sea-trout must be returned). In total some 19 salmon and 28 sea-trout (up to 3lb in weight) were taken off this fly only river. All sea-trout and the majority of the salmon were returned. Prospects for July look good, more rain is promised and this will help the spate rivers, the water levels in the Moy are good and fish are holding in the Mount Falcon Pools (On 1st July the Brown Party had 4 fish from The Wall Pool).
