Fishery Report » Mount Falcon Country House Hotel
[ July 2012 ]

Rain and steady rises in water height brought with it grilse and summer salmon both on the Moy, and the spate rivers that make up part of our 3 Rivers Package.
July
Week 1 - 48
Week 2 - 55
Week 3 - 92
Week 4 - 84
Total - 279
Year to Date: 326 – Salmon and grilse
The high water brought an abundance of grilse into the Mount Falcon fishery. It was pleasing that the majority of the grilse were in the 5-6lb category, with the cessation of the summer drift netting it good to see these fish returning to the river.
The high clean water in the last two weeks of the month made conditions perfect for the fly, and on a number of days it out fished all other methods. Those enjoying success on fly were, Martin and Maeve Davison, Mike Hornsbey and Garry Perks, and the Whitwell Party (Bill had his first fly caught salmon during the week and quickly followed it up with another 2). Those lucky enough to be on the Erriff and Owenduff ( 3 Rivers Package) as the water was falling after the numerous spates also enjoyed some great fishing. With all the rivers fining down after another flood, prospects look good for the month ahead.
