Fishery Report » Ballyvolane House & Blackwater Salmon Fishery
[ August 2010 ]

With no rain at all in August, the water levels were dropping throughout the month and were unusually low compared with previous years. The lower catchment produced the best conditions as fish were coming in on the tides. Highlights for the month we Messrs. Young & Akessoul grassed 2 fresh grilse with sealice of 5lb and 4lb on 6th August at Upper Kilbarry on th fly. Mr. Farrelly from Mallow took two fish of 5lb & 4lb at Gairha on 11th August on the fly. Ralph Tindal enjoyed good sport in the second week and took fish of 3.5lbs and 6.5lbs on the fly at Gairha. Rain expected at the beginning of September should bring the much need flood. Prospects for September are excellent.
