Screebe HouseScreebe June 2012

June started with the first flood in 3 months. This saw Trevor Downs the Chef at Screebe catching the first Salmon of the year at 9lbs 14oz from the Salmon Pool on a red Francis fly. With fish lost the following 2 days things were looking good.

In the first week in June there were also 49 brown trout recorded to 3lb and 6 sea trout to 1.5lbs which were all sportingly released.

On 19th we had a party of 6 German anglers trout fishing and they recorded 22 brown trout and 4 sea trout to 2lb from Screebe Lake.

On 23rd Trevor had another Salmon this time from Screebe river at 6lb which was also released.
On 24th returning angler Bruce Kelso had a lovely 11lb salmon from wings pool.

With non-stop rain for the month Salmon are running hard with fish going over the falls at the end of June which is extremely early for Screebe. So, all in all June saw 3 salmon, 77 brown trout and 12 sea trout.

At the time of writing (1st July) we have high water levels and salmon showing in all main pools so prospects look good.
