CAMILLAUN LODGE

As usual, June came quickly upon us after a hectic few weeks of Mayfly fishing. The first week in June saw some good catches of trout. John Mc Gee had great action catching 5 trout and returning four. Greg had a nice afternoon fishing off Cusafora, he had twelve rises which kept his heart jumping, landed six and kept one. In the second week of June Iain Love had a lovely 2lb trout.

We were delighted to welcome The Lavallard brothers who stayed with us recently to learn more about fishing on Lough Corrib. They spent two glorious days under the watchful eye of guide Patrick. They have vowed to return to the Corrib as soon as they can convince their wives about the beauty of Connemara- they are hooked!
Not unusually towards the end of June there were reports of good Mayfly hatches on the water. In a local angling competition, dapping Mayflies proved very successful. Towards the end of June our attention turned to salmon fishing with reports of good runs of Salmon through the Galway Weir. Greg had a great afternoon’s fishing on the Weir when he caught his quota on the fly.

We now look forward to seeing some flashes of silver passing our garden with the next big flood and hopefully see the spectacle of Salmon passing up through the waterfall in Oughterard.

There is lots of good fishing to be had on Lough Corrib throughout July so give us a call to get an up to date report.
